Blue Yeti Mic Increses in Voluem by Itself Reddit

1) mic levels are in the "recording tab", not in the "playback tab".

2) mic levels usually don't exist for USB mics (i.e, your Yeti mic) as they are driverless and have automatic gain control (which increases and decreases mic levels autiomatically).

3) realtek drivers only governs 3.5mm audio stuff and also laptop's internal speakers/mic --- realtek has nothing to do with usb mics

4) your computer has realtek audio chipset, not conexant audio chipset --- therefore there is no conexant smart audio.

I understand the mic level is in the recording tab. The mic can record. The reason why I'm highlighting the playback tab is because the monitoring isn't working and a number of solutions I've seen online highlight a second mic level control for monitoring that is normally presented in the places I highlighted on my screen shot.

Many of those solution examples include yeti microphones. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. If you go to the one minute mark at this video, you will see the mic level in the place that is missing for me.

FYI, this video also shows the "Listen" checkbox solution I referred to and why it's so bad.

You monitor your Yeti microphone by plugging your headphone into the Yeti mic itself.

And you have the playback within the Yeti mic to set monitoring levels in your headphone.

Please understand that I appreciate how you're trying to help, but the video you posted is suggesting the exact same solutions I listed in my original post as not working. Specifically...

First, your video recommends using the "Listen" checkbox. The video I posted previously does a good job of illustrating exactly why that's a terrible, echoing, unusable solution.

Second, your video then moves on to the exact problem the title of my post talks about. He opens the Speaker Properties on the Yeti Microphone, goes to the "Levels" tab, and there is the Mic level there he adjusts. That Mic level is what my screenshot and the main title of my post both explain are missing on my machine, and he's using a Blue Yeti microphone just like me.

For clarity, here are screenshots from the video you posted:

Also, my headphones are plugged into my Yeti microphone. I can hear sound from my computer just fine this way... but I get absolutely no monitoring for myself even through the microphone does record and I can see the green levels going up and down in the sound mixer for the microphone input.

Just to go the extra mile, with my headphones plugged into my Yeti microphone, here is what the exact same screens look like on my machine compared to what was in the video. Note how there is no microphone level for me.

The ONLY way I've found to get monitoring is using the "Listen" checkbox, but it's completely unusable. I would rather go without monitoring than try to use that solution because of the latent echo effect it produces.

Again, thanks for trying, but I'm still looking for a meaningful solution.

None of your initial screenshots contain the yeti playback tab. You only showed realtek speaker and realtek headphone which have nothing to do with USB mic.

Hold the yeti nano mic pattern selection to enable direct monitoring.

The mic manufacturer also provides software for Yeti Nano.

THAT did it. I held the button down that changes the omnidirectional vs cardiod mode and it toggled the monitoring on for my headphones connected to my Yeti.

That also explains why I had monitoring at the beginning and why it turned off at some point. I must have unwittingly toggled it off by holding that button down.

That also explains why there's no mic level in the speaker properties Levels tab, as per your points about a USB mic, and how that actually doesn't matter and was not the problem all along.

Thanks for sticking with me JosephT71. You rock!
